► Our activities

The activities of the CoR-EU are framed within the objectives of the Club of Rome:

• A global perspective, recognising the increasing inter-dependence of nations and regions.
• A holistic approach, seeking a deeper understanding of complex contemporary problems.
• An inter-disciplinary and long-term perspective, focused on the choices and policies determining the destiny of future generations.

One of the main activities is the organisation of regular lectures at the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Belgium in Brussels, under the title “Aurelio Peccei Lectures and Dialogues– Enquiries on the Challenges of the 21st Century”. To date, the CoR-EU has held over 90lectures. See under “Events”. Full list available upon request.

Special events have been organised in collaboration with public partners the European Commission, the European Parliament, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as well as with private partners such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Oikos, the Foundation for the Urban Environment(FFUE), GreenFacts, and Business & Society.

At special academic sessions at the Royal Academy of Belgium honorary membership is conferred on distinguished individuals. See names of Honorary members under the section on “Organisation”. From June 2004 to June 2013 these events were chaired by HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium (now King Philippe). His successor as Honorary President is Mr Herman Van Rompuy, President Emeritus of the European Council. He was officially installed on 9 September 2015.
